SEPTEMBER 2017 ANGUS BIRD SIGHTINGS

Postby Mark Caunt » Sat Sep 02, 2017 8:45 am

Hi All,
thanks to everyone who sends in news via text to the Bird Clubs AVG Service.
Sometimes I receive news of more common species that perhaps isn't needed to be sent out as a text (to 141 people!) Rather than it just disappear though, I am going to start putting those messages on the forum as well as the messages that are circulated to the AVG. Please don't be offended if your message hasn't been circulated on the AVG. It is useful and by either you posting here or me putting it on, it is as at least recorded.
Anyway trying my best!
Thanks Mark

Lesser Yellowlegs still viewable from the Old Harbour area, bird in channel looking towards Montrose.

Ruff also moving around the same area and filmed nearer to Miss Erskine's Bank.

Lesser Yellowlegs video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ID9BRXucy7o better if I hadn't zoomed in so far!

Black Tern and Roseate Tern, both briefly at high tide on pillars in front of sewage building at Inchcape Park, Arbroath.Time, around 1630 19/9/2012. Better had it landed on a nearer pillar though and the Roseate photo was a disaster!

I saw the bird late this morning from Old Montrose pier. It was sufficiently far out that only at home, processing the pictures, could I be sure of the Id.
