Not a June bird, but does anyone know what this bird is?
It may well just be a leucistic brambling, but showed chaffinch properties as well.
The rump and tail was pure white as well when flying

Looking at your first photo I would say Brambling with leucistic primary and tail feathers. Head shape, back plumage and wing pattern look more Brambling to me than Chaffinch. However happy to stand corrected if someone else wants to give their opinion.

I'd agree with Mark here. Definitely a Brambling with some leucistic feathers.

Barry Buddon Camp, 9/6/2018 0900-1330.

Good numbers of varied species in a survey on the camp today which is open most weekends, details at the site below, the url will change monthly. Access and parking at Monifieth and Barry Halt, both have sentries, and red flags will be flying if the camp is closed.

NOTE: As part of the survey I walked through a field along cattle tracks and woods along deer tracks which resulted in up to 50 ticks finding their way on to my shoes, ankles and trousers. I was wearing white football socks over the trousers which made the tiny nymphs visible, I wouldn't have seen them on darker socks. A timely warning at this time of year to stay on the open paths and roads, my colleagues who weren't near animals or woods didn't have any ticks, they hope!

One Great Northern Diver still in the bay at Mains of Usan at 1306 hrs today. Very likely the same bird was the one seen later, close in at Scurdie Ness drifting back southward.

Last week I arrived in Kirriemuir on Wednesday evening. Headed out to Kinnordy early Thursday morning but the police had just arrived and had closed the reserve off so went up Glen Moy. Lots of wading birds there - snipe, curlew, oystercatcher, redshank and lapwing. Heard a couple of cuckoos. Also reed bunting, sedge warbler, willow warbler, whinchat, redpoll, swallow, sand martin, house martin.
During a walk at Cortachy on Friday morning I saw blackcap, chiffchaff, dipper, stock dove and goosander.
We walked along the shore of the backwater reservoir. Found Osprey, willow warbler, redpoll, cuckoo, crossbill, reed bunting.
On the way back we stopped at Lintrathen. The sand martin colony is still there. Heard chiffchaff, garden warbler and willow warbler by the shore.
On Saturday did an 8 mile walk with my cousin in Glen Prosen. Saw three Osprey, redpoll, siskin, mistle and song thrush, willow warbler, wheatear, kestrel.
Sunday morning I walked at Forfar Loch. There were great crested grebes, gadwall and tufted duck on the loch. Willow warbler, blackcap and sedge warbler. Yellowhammers, reed buntings and tree sparrows. Heard a great spotted woodpecker.
Did a couple of walks at Glamis before returning home. Had willow warbler, sedge warbler, chiffchaff and blackcap. Curlews, oystercatcher, and snipe on the fields. Found a redpoll, great spotted woodpecker and skylarks.

Kinnordy still closed today. No access from either end, no access over Egno Moss, police even turned cyclists back. Female Marsh Harrier seen hunting near Kingoldrum end, from roadside.
