Re: SEPTEMBER 2010 BIRD SIGHTINGS - ADD CURRENT SIGHTINGS HERE
i had 2 peregrines perched together just before nightfall on arbroath cliffs tonight (mon),from the esplanade i had 1 close swimming red throated diver ,1 very nice guillemot in full winter plumage, some very noisy sandwich terns, i saw a peregrine catch a feral pigeon at the start of the cliffs a few weeks ago,i was heading for the car park and the bird was heading north parralel with the cliff top,it suddenly swerved out to sea flew in a circle heading inland then swooped down on the pigeon,

Pinkfeet en masse near Errol September 23rd. Driving Errol - Dundee back road I saw grey geese in a stubble field near the road at Bogmiln Farm (NO 281256 more or less). A quick count suggested c400 birds, which were soon joined by 3 more flights totalling roughly 250. Driving a little further there were another 200 (rough estimate) in a continuation of the field. No time to count properly. A fabulous sight, especially those landing to join the others, showing their pink feet clearly. I've not seen anywhere near this number in the area since moving here 3 years ago.

At least 5 White Wagtails at East Haven 23rd September. Feeding on tide wrack at high water. Probably more like 10 birds, but difficult to be sure as it was very windy and they didn't allow close approach. Distictively yellowish white on heads of most. Also 2 Sandwich Terns.

2 wood pigeon sat on nests in roadside trees, about 50 metres apart, at one end of main street in Carnoustie.
Certainly these are the latest nests that I personally have seen.
