Details: Approx 12x Waxwings flew over Strathmore Road, Glamis at 11:00am.
Approx 18x Waxwings flew over Parkhill Place, Kirriemuir at 3:00pm.

02/11/2010 - 120 Waxwings in Howff, Dundee city centre.Feeding,1100 - 1200hrs.
( 25 here on 29/10/2010,1400hrs,moved on quickly)

This morning.

Lurgies - Male Blackcap & pair of Brambling at the car park.

Bridge of Dun - 5 Fieldfare, 2 Redwing

Tayock - Nice close up views of 3 pair of Pintail.

Ferryden - 40 Waxwing in trees by main road, watched them strip the top half of a Rowan tree of berries!

Nov. 4th. Montrose Basin
Apart from Fieldfares and Redpolls the only notable sighting was of a Green Sandpiper which was recorded here earlier in the autumn. It was landed on the opposite shore of the river to the concrete seat on the footpath from the Old Pier to the Lurgies. It was the distinctive high pitched piping that first drew my attention as it flew in overhead with its snipe-like darting flight, to land, and the very conspicuous white rump.

Then split into smaller groups and dispearsed in the area.

Nov. 6th. - 1400hrs. WAXWINGS 150+ in Cross Street , B/Ferry Reported by Mike Groves - Thanks Mike

Nov. 6th. 1500hrs. WAXWINGS 200+ IN Craigie Drive , Park behind the Post Office /Shop /look for Red Post Box. towards the end of Craigie Drive when coming from Strathearn Road end. A short walk thru the housing estate where there are loads of Rowan/ Cotoneaster Trees . Never seen so many Waxwings in my life !

Nov. 6th. 1445hrs. BULLFINCH 6 Seen on Barry Buddon at Barry Level Xing end ( Rare on B/B ) Also 2 MAGPIES
And in Carnoustie Bay 7 RED THROATED DIVERS - 2 LONGTAILED DUCK , 4 COMMMON SCOTER , and a GUILLIEMOT

Saturday 6th November - 18x Waxwings flew over Linton Road, Arbroath at 10:30am.
Monday 8th November - 12x Waxwings in Rowan Trees on corner of Dundee Road and St.James Road, Forfar at 11:30am.
Wednesday 10th November - 40x Waxwings in trees down Manor Road, Forfar at 2:30pm. Could be seen from far end of Focus Car Park.

A mixed flock of bramblings and chaffinches seen in the beech trees & hawthorn bushes skirting the levee footpath from the Old Pier to the Lurgies. Also a loose flock of over a score of blue tits!

30-35 whooper swans seen before dusk in stubble field on Lintrathen side of Kirkton of Kingoldrum.

2 Starlings both with rings on both their legs hanging about in Montrose High Street all day yesterday. I was working and did'nt have bins. Probabaly just locally ringed, but maybe worth someone checking out!

13th Nov, 11:45 at Farnell

c30 Waxwings and C120 Fieldfare on the hawthorn behind Farnell village hall. The Waxwings flew off south.

On the subject of ringed Starlings......
Ben Herschell has an ongoing project studying Starlings in Angus where birds are fitted with the metal BTO ring and colour rings. If you're able to get details of the ring colours and which leg they are fitted to then the details can be sent to Ben or reported on-line at www.ring.ac.

I had a report from Chris Rodger the RSPB Vane Farm warden of a single male Beardie in the Mill Burn Reed beds just by the path to the Shelduck hide. I think the bird was seen yesterday 15th

16/11/2010 Elliot Red-throated Diver just off shore, lots of linnets and yellow hammer, few Snipe but as yet no Jacks,Condor the same Snipe in no Jacks. Anyone seen Jack, for guide, please, thanks

Sorry for late posting (technical issues)

Smew, barnacle goose and pink-footed goose all present on Monday, along with around 570 greylag geese, one of which had a collar on (orange CLZ) which from records I see was also present last winter.

Nov. 20th. 1430hrs. PURPLE SANDPIPERS 15 at West Haven Beach at high tide plus 6 other Wader species ie. DUNLIN, SANDERLING , TURNSTONE , BAR TAILED GODWIT , REDSHANK, OYSTERCATCHER ,

Nov. 20th. 1445pm. WAXWINGS 3 only On road leading to Barry Level Crossing , just past turn off on right to Barry Golf Club House/ Golf Course.

Nov. 20th 1350pm. BLACKCAP male 1 at Ethie Mains Farm - not much else .
