6 Feb - Ferryden to Scurdiness

Very windy, but refreshing today (managed to miss the snow showers)- just after high tide.

A few oystercatchers and redshanks along the shoreline. Eiders, a male goosander and gulls on the sea. Not a lot else to see except for crows and a dead goose floating out to sea.

On the way back I cut down the path next to the picnic table so as to walk in front of the houses, and just past the car park were oystercatchers, turnstones (8) and 2 purple sandpipers on the shoreline.

Skylark & Kittiwake

Postby Grant Balfour » Mon Feb 11, 2013 8:41 am

09-02-2013 Powmouth
There were 7 Skylarks singing above the fields between Powmouth and Carcary on Saturday morning. Spring can't be far off....
There was also a Long-tailed Duck (female) up river from the old viaduct. Probably one of the birds from the Lurgies.

10-02-2013
A juvenile (1st Winter) Kittiwake at Kinnaird Park. This must have been an exhausted bird as it was on a boggy area by the side of a path and didn't move as I walked past only around 2 to 3 metres from it. It did take to the air after I was past and flew off.
