Black Redstart

Postby Alex Shepherd » Wed Mar 08, 2017 5:55 pm

The Black Redstart was still on the lobster pots and feeding along the strand line at Mains of Usan today, also a Grey Wagtail at the burn on the beach.

A single Pintail drake was at the Bank of Scotland Hide at the SWT Centre around 1430 this afternoon and Ron said it's often seen on the salt pans. The Kingfisher was hovering over the pools between the centre and the hide in between the squalls.

Murton Green Sandpiper

Postby Alex Shepherd » Sat Mar 11, 2017 10:15 am

A Green Sandpiper seen flying from in front of the Stewart Hide on Friday March 10th, it landed on the bank edge and of course disappeared into the vegetation. I couldn't relocate it but will have another look today.

Last count of Waxwings at Inverkeilor on Thursday was 23.

Iceland Gull and Puffins

Postby Alex Shepherd » Sun Mar 12, 2017 11:10 pm

An Iceland Gull on the west breakwater today at Arbroath Harbour, viewed from the sewage pump station at Inchcape Park and later from the Fog Horn and then in front of the Old Brewhouse. Over 100 Whooper Swans flew north over the Brewhouse, perhaps to the Basin.

Three Puffins flew in at Auchmithie this afternoon late on, the first I've seen this year. Can usually be viewed from the end of the public road, past "The Lucken" overlooking the sea to the north of the harbour.

Video and photos of both on my blog at http://aberbrothock.blogspot.co.uk/
