House Sparrow/Tree Sparrow pair??

Postby Alex Shepherd » Sat Apr 29, 2017 9:06 pm

Seen for the last few days on my neighbours roof, a female House Sparrow and a Tree Sparrow of unknown gender attending the same nest. Both birds visit individually and together, both are feeding the chicks in the nest, both have been in the nest at the same time and also both brood the young.

I've emailed the BTO and asked around if this behaviour has been seen before.

Video of two short clips spliced together here, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLzk_1lZY_g

I'll try for some good photos to confirm that both birds are "true" and not part something else.
