Bluetit Chicks

Postby kendale » Tue May 22, 2012 10:20 am

Can anyone help!

Our bluetits returned to our nest box this year and sucessfully hatched approx 6 young on 15th May. (we have a camera in the box and can see their progress) .Yesterday morning the chicks were no where to be seen and after ensuring that the parents had deserted the box I opened it this morning and found it was completely empty. There is no way that the young were near fledging and I wondered if anyone might have any idea what could have happened to them or indeed taken them. The nest box is deep and afforded considerable protection. We have no known preditors that I can think of.

Many thanks

Ken
