Greater Spotted Woodpecker seen this afternoon as I drove into grounds of Sunnyside Royal Hospital, Hillside. Been working there for eight years now and this was my first sighting of this species on the site.

2 May 2008 Heard singing males of the following species on west side of Montrose Basin: Blackcap, Whitethroat, Sedge and Grasshopper Warbler.
Male Marsh Harrier seen several times during the day by the Slunks reed bed and also quartering the rough grazing and saltings near the Wigeon hide. It put on a short aerobatic
courtship display together with sound!!!
This is my first posting. I hope it is correct and useful. I wasn't too sure about the Marsh Harrier but conferred with Bob McCurley at mid-day. I returned again in the afternoon and am reasonably certain of my identification.

Just heard a report today that on last Thursday (8th May 08) a Cetti's Warbler was seen at Denfind Pond, Monikie.
Was seen down to a few feet and heard calling before disapearing and not being refound again at the time.
Worth keeping an eye out if visiting the area.

Had a pair of Linnets in my garden this evening about 1800.

Not rare birds I know, but I've never seen them in a garden before, is this unusual?

Wigeon Hide is situated on the west side of Montrose Basin and is the elevated hide with the pools on right as you look out of the hide.
