Large numbers of stags in groups in the area to the north of Benty Roads a couple of weeks ago mostly in The Witter, around the head of Water of Unich around the head of the Lee and Mark Burns ;-)

Also saw several of these very distinctly iridium blue/black beetles in Corrie Broadlands, regularly see a variety of beetles in the area but dont remember seeing these before, as usual the image does not real show how colourful they were -

Some very scruffy looking partridges in the back garden, bit of a fuzzy image shot through the kitchen window -

Wild Boar

Postby stevendoig » Sun Oct 11, 2009 4:33 pm

I kid you not!

Driving on Motorway just past Perth this afternoon, nad the wife goes 'Jings, whats that a pig?'

Nope a Wild Boar standing at the side of the road. Got a good look and then it vanished into the woods.

Is this a single escapee, or like England are there now many substantial herds living wild in the area?

Certainly made my day!! :)

Fox

Postby Neil Young » Tue Oct 13, 2009 2:05 pm

Whilst I was driving to work last night at about 2 am, a Red Fox ran across the road in Spey Drive, Dundee. I believe they are quite common
in the Gowrie Park area - still good to see though.

40+ Dolphins swimming up the coast along by the Arbroath cliffs at mid-day yesterday, they turned in to the first gulch in Carlinheuch Bay and imediately turned around and went back the way they came.

I have recorded them many times during the last 11 years in the area between Grannies Garret and Deil's Heid, almost always around mid-day heading north but have never seen them do that before. They usualy head on a straight course for the point well off the headland at Gaylet Pot/Lud Castle.

Wed Dec 24th. 21:45hrs.
Rejoiced today at having only my second yearly visit from a Bullfinch in the back garden. However this was completely over shadowed by finding an Otter wandering around the patio this evening. Considering i live in Dundee near the Kingsway she was a long way from water.
