Arbroath, West Links in front of play park near dusk, 1/9/2019.
Curlew Sandpiper still, hard work as anglers moved the flock around the beach repeatedly. Also at least 6 Wheatear, probably more, 5 Bar-tailed Godwits, Dunlin, Ringed Plovers, Redshanks and Curlews. No Gulls or Terns, angler on roost!

Arbroath west links in front of play park 4pm 10 wheatears along with several pied wagtails,3 little gulls resting on the grassy area near the mouth of the Elliot burn

2/9/2019, 1400hrs, Montrose Basin.
Juvenile Marsh Harrier with violet or blue wing tag on right wing, over Slunks this afternoon, likely passing through. Greenshanks, 25 Goldeneye, Canada Geese and 2 Kingfishers downstream of old harbour.
Reports tonight of Pink-footed Geese in Angus, and Perth and Kinross.

Green Sandpiper on scrape formed by machinery at a compost dump at East Seaton farm. Seen from where the cliff path descends into Carlingheugh Bay, "The Flairs", south end.

Victoria Park, Arbroath, 7/9/2019 - 1215hrs.
2 Med Gulls, 1 1st winter and an adult near Whiting Ness. 200 terms, mostly common, mobile as tide ebbed. 90 Curlews with high number of juveniles.
West Links at play park, 5 Bar-tailed Godwits, Dunlins, Ringed Plovers and around 140 Terns, mostly common, still 1 or 2 Wheatear on rock armour.
West haven,1700hrs large number of Terns, maybe 300 on low tide line, 2 Bar-tailed Godwits, Ringed Plovers and Dunlins.
Ring-necked Parakeet in Carnoustie House Grounds, the park at Woodlands School area. Reported by walkers as been around since last year.

Montrose Basin this afternoon:
2 Curlew Sandpipers showing well in front of the visitor centre.
2 ruff just before low tide, aslo from VC
c200 Knot
1 turnstone
2 greenshank
Still huge numbers of Lapwing.
2 little egrets were at the lurgies and Kingfisher at BoS hide.

7am this morning a female Merlin chasing Mipits south of Kirriemuir at Pluckerston farm on the Glamis road.

4 young magpies at the east end of riverside nature park,at the dump area I saw another 8,a couple of adults were with this group,a little grebe was on the lochan,(this bird appears in sept every now and then)quite a few swallows flying around in camperdown park at the area where the weekend flower show was,i take it the flower show along with the weekend hot weather attracted a lot of insects and the swallows have made the most of it

Inchcape Park (Sewage Pump Station), Arbroath. 10/9/2019 - 1230-1400
Three different Roseate Tern adults, two clearly with black beaks and a rose tinge to the breast. 4 reported later at Victoria Park.
Also one juvenile Black Tern, might be two if I can compare photos. Three Little Gulls also amongst the tern flock on the beach in front of the camper vans!

Two Curlew Sandpipers and one Ruff on Rossie Spit at 1215, currently out of view. No sign of injured Curlew Sandpiper.

2 first winter Little Gulls on beach from ADBC hide 1.45pm. Also GND and 5 Slavonian grebes seen earlier by Martin Scott.
Single Slavonian grebe at south of Lunan Bay, Surf Scoter here too. 3pm. Gus
Report of a probable Pallid Harrier heading south down the coast from Paul Baxter at Inverbervie now 3:50.

Sunday, Angus Coastal Festival event, 2 Ruff, 2 Black-tailed Godwit, 1 Snipe, most common waders and Terns.
Monday, Webs count, Whinchat juvenile in brussel sprout field at roadside, 5 Bar-tailed Godwits, 1 Whimbrel, common waders and rare on the beach, a Sparrowhawk. Wheatear on both days.
NOTE: The level crossing gate at Craigmill to Parten Ha is now padlocked and a new notice, whether temporay or not says, "No Unathorised Access"

ADBC Club Trip, Wednesday 18th September, UPDATE
Note that the SWT Centre does not open till 1030 am and the gate will locked up until around 10 am. Members wishing to attend please wait in the small layby at the gate at 0930 am. Also entry to the Centre for non-members is allowed free of charge, only to the area where the grey carpet extends. This allows access to the displays and the seating area for coffee and a view without scopes or binoculars out of two side windows. I never knew that, much I don't know though!

Adult Iceland Gull flying north towards Montrose, seen by Rob NN, Maggie and I. Also 3 Harbour Porpoises hunting in the bay.
12,000 Pink-footed Geese counted on Sunday at Montrose Basin, estimate of 20,000 at Tayock on Monday evening.

55 Canada Geese at Backwater Res this afternoon. Very large number (200?) of migrating meadow pipits plus family ofl stonechats there also.
