Black-Throated Thrush Turdus ruficollis

Rothesay Garden, Bute, Scotland

Friday 2nd February 2007

After a 3 hour drive and a short ferry crossing, me, Rob Noble-Nesbitt & Maggie arrived on Bute. This bird was renowned to be skulking and today was no exception. I honestly think that if the garden owner hadn’t taken pity on us we may not have seen it at all. Massive thanks to Ina McMillan who let us come through to her kitchen and wait on the bird showing on her lawn! It loved the pellets she provided. When a few Herring Gull turned up causing the other birds to take cover, she even put some bread out the front of the house to distract them. Really was kind of her and we can’t thank her enough for some cracking views. Thanks to Rob also for driving us over!
