Iceland Gull Larus glaucoides

Arbroath Harbour, Angus, Scotland

Wednesday 21st March 2007

Trundled down the harbour at 6:00am which was a first, but was worth it. The light was great and gave the First Winter Iceland Gull a nice pinkish tinge as the sun had just came up and it flew in around the harbour and in front of the Arbroath Signal Tower (1st image). It also gave some interesting back lighting shots as the sun shone through the white wings and their were some nice reflections too. Good light meant fast shutter speeds and flight/water could be frozen as it fought with the local Herring Gulls.

Photos taken with a Canon EOS 30D and a Canon 75-300mm Lens.
