Two Bar-headed Geese with 32 Canada Geese at Forfar Loch sailing Club mid afternoon. Sadly, not on the British List, but interesting just the same. Also 4 Whooper Swans, unusual here I understand.

Carnoustie Golf Links - new species

Postby Alex Shepherd » Thu Nov 05, 2015 9:05 pm

A List from the west end of the Carnoustie Golf Links today included: 1 Pochard drake in eclipse and a Woodcock both new to the links list (I think).

Also, 3 juvenile Sparrowhawks (2 males together and a separate female), 1 Kestrel, 28 Curlew, 4 Little Grebe, 18 Redwing, and many of the usual species making a list of 27 species.

Carnoustie, at the mouth of the Lochty Burn near the Sports Centre, 3 Purple Sandpipers, Sanderling, Ringed Plover, Dunlin, Rock Pipit, Redshank and a Grey Wagtail.

Also of interest, Ron Mitchell photographed a Swallow at the Lurgies this morning.

Big counts

Postby simonbusuttil » Sat Nov 14, 2015 8:12 pm

I visited the big corvid roost between Fern and Noranside this evening. I counted 7,000 corvids (estimated 1,500 rooks and 5,500 jackdaws) but suspect that there are many more there.

The other night there were over 200 cormorants roosting (at dusk) on the cliffs to the north of Auchmithie
