Saw four Magpies together in Montrose East Links conifers this morning. Often seen in this area.

Adult Iceland Gull seen today at Victoria Park, Arbroath. Originally flew out to sea but returned to roost with Herring Gulls by the old sewage pipe, opposite the road to West Seaton (Cliffburn area).
41 Corn Buntings in one tree at Boghead Cottages.
13 Razorbills, 150+ Kittiwakes and many Fulmars offshore north of Auchmithie Harbour.

No sign of adult Iceland Gull by 1700 at Victoria Park, Arbroath, roost not fully uncovered. Half tide on Thursday may suit, gulls bathe and preen in the fresh water of the burn. High tide is 1449.

up to 23 common snipe showing very well today from the visitor centre at Montrose Basin, quite unusual to see them so active in the open. Kingfisher was also around most of the day and over 120 Pintail and 5 Scaup.

Went to Kinnordy on Friday morning.
Saw a few whooper swans. Lots of wigeon, teal, tufted duck. A few goldeneye and shoveler also.
Large flock of field fare were in one of the fields and redwing were passing through the woodland.
Lots of oystercatchers, lapwings. A couple of redshank, snipe and a curlew.
There were a few brambling in the woodland, with a couple of tree sparrow. Reed bunting were singing.
Saw one sparrowhawk, two buzzard

ADBC club outing to Kinnordy , Lintrathen & Backwater Dam.
13 members out despite the blustery conditions, 61 species seen, highlights included;
several Chiffchaff, male Marsh Harrier,Red Kite, Brambling, Whooper Swan, Sparrowhawk, Gadwall, Great-crested Grebe & Tree Sparrow.

The bird I reported by text at Balgavies is a Pochard drake and Tufted duck hybrid, probably the most common duck hybrid in the UK, and not a Scaup. I have photos of the same type of hybrid at Forfar Loch 2016 and Murton 2017 and I believe Gus had one at Forfar Loch in 2018. The bird has orange eyes, a peak at the rear of the head, the head has a purple sheen, the bill has a black tip instead of a just black nail and its back is grey and not vermiculated as a Scaup.
