1 x Greenshank, 2 x Common Sandpiper towards mouth of River Esk and a solitary Pink Footed Goose. (11.30 am). Is this a straggler that has been around all summer and which I simply have not noticed?

Little Egrets and Ruff on Montrose Basin

Postby HarryB » Thu Aug 23, 2007 4:13 pm

Three Little Egrets this morning from SWT Centre, Montrose. Birds could be seen from the Centre and were together on the west side of Maryton By.
ALSO
A report from Rob and Maggie Noble-Nesbitt telling of eight Ruff on The Lurgies. They few across the South Esk to the pools behind the Shelduck Hide.

Re: Pink-footed Goose report; there have been as many as three on the Basin all summer. Possibly these are injured birds from the winter.
Also, there has been a Whooper Swan all summer, amongst the Mutes.
Possibly of interest; there were two Whoopers all through last summer too.

Postby HarryB » Sat Aug 25, 2007 11:08 am

A message from Bob McCurley at 11.15 to tell me he has a Sea Eagle at Monikie Country Park east of Dundee. The bird, which appears to be from the release scheme, has a white wing tag ("N") and is on the Denfind Pond there. The Denfind Pond is the smallest of the Monikie Ponds
