Tree spugs in Ferryden garden.

Post by Gordon Anderson »

On Saturday 1st March spotted a single tree sparrow in my neighbour's garden. To-day Sunday 12.30hrs I counted three tree sparrows in the same tree. Exciting armchair tick as I have never seen them in this vicinity before and they seem to have vanished from their former stronghold around Lunan braes.
How are they faring elsewhere around the county?

To the attentive eye, each moment of the year has its own beauty, and in the same field, it beholds, every hour, a picture which was never seen before, and which shall never be seen again. --Ralph Waldo Emerson

Pink-footed Goose numbers at Montrose Basin etc

Post by HarryB »

Goose count yesterday morning produced only about 1200 geese (That was at about 06,30) . By the time of the WeBS count, there were more Pinkies than there were in the morning, plus 140 Greylag.
The Avocet continues at the Basin (since 08/01/08) and the Lesser Yellowlegs is also there (Since 10/11/07). There is also a Greater Scaup flock continuously there and up to 3 Green Sandpiper (Best seen at low tide) at the Slunks. No sign of the Bewick's Swans yesterday amongst a flock of 170+ Whooper Swans, but they could still be about the Basin. Anyone re-finding them, please post on this website, plus notifying Birdline Scotland etc.
We seem to be getting used to our rarer winter visitors but other folks from elsewhere still feel the need to see these birds.

More Yellowhammer strangeness ?

Six Yellowhammers have taken up residence in our garden (Arbirlot) they have been there since saturday, feeding under a seedfeeder on the lawn. Although they can often be found in surrounding field boundry hedgerows (never normaly see more than two together) this is the first time they have ever been seen in the garden and we have been here about ten years. :?

Re: MARCH 2008 BIRD SIGHTINGS - ADD CURRENT SIGHTINGS HERE

Post by Mark Caunt »

Hi everyone! Just to let you know that the address has changed for the forum as you might have noticed due to domain names changing etc.
Anyway this had the effect of making some auto emails have erroneous links to the old domain name.

To cut a long story short, the forum had to be re-installed and so we have a nice new version which hopefully will cut down on spam also!
It looks a little different but as and when I get time I will make it look a little more familiar and Im sure we will all get used to it soon enough.

PLease report any teething problems, erroneous links in emails etc, so I can try and sort em!
Sorry for any inconvinience! all the best mark
