May 20th. 10-30 p.m. BARN OWL Seen at Easthaven , hunting along railway track field area .

There was a possible Pallas's Grasshopper Warbler at a the small pond at Balgove this morning. The bird was heard and seen in the scrub to the left of the stream, just before the willow tree.
Looking just like a Grasshopper warbler but with rusty-red rump and wings, cant figure it to be anything else!
Proving VERY ELUSIVE.

May 21st 12 noon till 13 25pm Previously reported Pallas's Grasshopper Warbler: I responded to the report of this bird, but no sign of bird in an hour and a half's search.

One calling weakly in front of swamp hide at 1030 and another (or the same) several hundred m to the west at 2am. the latter from Hannah Morton - the site manager. I enjoy a good whipping.

Details: A Little Ringed Plover was seen today at an Angus GP. Also up Glen Lethnot 2x Cuckoo were heard.

Tree Sparrows successfully fledged from our garden nest box again this year. Four or possibly five young.

Wood Warbler singing - Glen Esk. Bird was in Birch Woodland, about 2 miles past Tarfside heading up the Glen, on right hand side just after left turn to Dalbrack. (Grid Ref. 470786)

Showing well at intervals from Gullery Hide -- OSPREY Also seen visiting Reserve.

At least 2 adult Water Rail at The Lurgies today. One adult with 3 young and at least one other, calling further away from the family group.

At the Lurgies from 19:00-21:00. Tide going out.

Red Breasted Merganser (1pr)
Redshank (4)
Common Tern (2)
Mallard - 1 female with 3 juveniles & another with 9 juveniles.

Linnet (5) - in a gorse bush.
Reed Bunting - 3 males in the reed bed.

Marsh Harrier (1) - quite far off, but it was probably a juvenile as the wings were completely dark.

One Peregrine flew above my head while I was in the garden at 9.20pm yesterday. The Swifts started to divebomb it and it made its way to the Mackays Jam factory tower to harass the feral pigeons over there.

Details: A female Marsh Harrier showing well from Kinnordy Gullery Hide today this afternoon.
Also 3x Ospreys at the same time flying over.

A Common Crane at Wigeon Hide, Montrose Basin this evening (28/05/09)
Chris McGuigan found and reported this bird around 20.00 and it moved northwest into the north west corner corner of the Basin about 20.40.
Up to that point, it could be seen from Old Montrose Pier.

As well as a young female marsh harrier being seen almost daily now at Kinnordy along with Osprey, there are also water rail calling from right next to the Gullery hide, and there have been a few folk fortunate enough to see them as well.
I have also had a report of a water vole seen from the same hide, so please keep your eyes peeled and please let me know if your lucky enough to get a glimpse.

3 BLACK TERNS TODAY AT KINNORDY LOCH(2-3.30pm) FROM GULLERY HIDE JIM&JEAN COBB

Two Ospreys. The smaller (male?) has a ring on the left leg. Colour green with letters BF.
Pair of Mute Swans with 8 cygnets.
Greylag Geese (30). Gadwall (1 female). Reed Bunting (3). Willow Warbler (1). Swifts (c10 flying around in one group). Swallows. Sand Martins.
