sat 29 Jan 2011 Quick walk along Arbirlot nat trail railway end. Gr Sp Wp (F), 2 Buzzards, 2Dippers, Rooks. Crows, Gold Finches, Songthrush, House Sparrows, Starlings, Grey Heron (plus dead one think got stuck in ice and froze to death), Blue tits, Great Tits and Coal Tits, Greenfinch. Arbroath harbour 1 Merganser, 5 Purple Sand(just outside harbour).

2nd hand news but birdforum reported a Bittern at Kinnordy yesterday in the willows on the path towards Kirrie

Crossbills ( 5 ) near car park at old hide ,Lintrathen Loch . Feeding in larches. 80 Whooper swans on loch.
Lunan Bay 3pm. Very calm conditions.
1 Black-throated Diver
3 Slavonian Grebe
above all at west end of Lunan bay, seen from dunes.
Red-throated Diver -6
Long-tailed duck - 15
also a pod of 4 dolphins
Also had sparrowhawk and GS woodpecker at Lunan bay.

30/01/2011 Garden Birdwatch was spoilt as usual with the visit of not 1 but 2 Sparrowhawks. But still managed to get Robin, Blackbird, Chaffinch, Blue tit, Greenfinch, Goldfinch, Hedge Sparrow, Starling, Great Tit, Crow, Coal Tit, Dunnock, Woody and hightlight of the hour was a Blackcap (F) on the feeders which is my first ever visit of this species in my garden

Jan 30th WHITE TAILED SEA EAGLE JUV.- GROUSE

Jan. 30th 10-30am. WHITE TAILED SEA EAGLE JUV. - Back Water Resevoir - Seen sitting in tree in far right hand corner side of Resevoir looking from the last car park area after crossing the Dam bridge. Also seen were 4 RED GROUSE and a single CROSSBILL Male .

Jan 30th 11-30am. BLACK GROUSE 6 and RED GROUSE 4 in Glen Prosen

31/01/2011 05.30 forgot meantion one house I was delivering to a security light was on above a garage and a bat was circling it. Think Pipstrell cos not wather anywhere near. Thought this was a little early to come out of hibernation but if anyone can explain would really appreciate it thanks in advance mickey
