Post by Grant Balfour »

About 1630, there were several thousand Pinkfoot Geese heading north over the A90 between Brechin & Stracathro.
Unable to count them as I was driving down the road at the time.....

Wheatear - Glen Clova

Post by Grant Balfour »

10am at Rottal in Glen Clova - male Wheatear perched on a fencepost.

An early morning cycle trip round Glen Clova came up with lots of Oystercatcher, Lapwing, Pied Wagtail, etc (about 30 species) but the highlight was the Wheatear.

Worth keeping an eye out for Dotterel flocks waiting to go up into the high hills. Brechin bird watcher George Crighton recorded seeing a flock of 50 Dotts in a field near the river in Clova - I think in late April many years ago!
