Introducing myself

I'm a new member and would like to introduce myself. I have been living in Dundee since 1996 and a keen birder (and twitcher) on and off since 1993. Currently I am very much on, having enjoyed the New Brighton little swift and seen three Balearic shearwaters in the SW on holiday. Current UK life list: 296.

I know nothing about the ADBC, its report, or its outings, so any information would be much appreciated.

My list of shame that birds I have failed to connect with in the UK in nearly 20 years includes, amazingly, great skua and black redstart, so if anyone currently has these two birds sitting on their garden bird table, please do let me know.

Here you will find details of the Club and its indoor and outdoor meetings and will be able to download an application form. Non members are most welcome to attend meetings, so if you want to dip a toe in the water just come along, make yourself known as a potential new member and you will receive a warm welcome. Next outdoor meeting is this Wednesday 18th July starting at East Haven car park at 10am and walking along the shore to Elliot, Arbroath - a Great Skua is a possibility at this time of year, you will see from the forum that one was seen yesterday at Balmossie.
The Club has two hides, a seawatching hide at Lunan Bay, where a Black Redstart spent several weeks earlier in the year, the other in Montreathmont Forest where you get excellent close up views of woodland birds.

Hi Trevor, welcome to the forum.
Please correct me if I am wrong anyone, but for Great Skua I would say go to Fishtown of usan in September/October for seawatching when there is a wind going in a westerly or north westerly direction. We even had one in Auchmithie bay for a while in the past. No doubt Black Redstarts will be posted on here if and when they are seen in autumn!
The club is well worth joining Trevor, especially for the bird report, texting news system and outings as Jon indicated.

Thanks for all the info everyone. That meeting is Wednesday as in the day after tomorrow? It's not on the website list of meetings. I'll try and come at least for a couple of hours (I have a lunch meeting and a problem with my foot that means I can't walk far at the moment).

Of course, I have to work out where the East Haven car park is first ...
