Riverside Nature Park in Dundee between 1130 and 1530 today. 43 species seen.

Bar Tailed Godwit (32), Blackbird, Black Headed Gull, Blue Tit, Bullfinch (2), Buzzard (1), Carrion Crow (60+), Chaffinch, Common Gull, Cormorant (1), Curlew, Dunlin (6), Goldcrest (1), Goldeneye (11), Goldfinch, Great Black Backed Gull (1), Great Tit, Greenfinch, Grey Heron, Grey Wagtail (1), Greylag Goose (c20), Herring Gull, Jackdaw (2), Kestrel (1), Mallard, Meadow Pipit (7), Mute Swan (2), Oystercatcher, Pied Wagtail (1), Redshank, Redwing (3), Reed Bunting (2), Robin, Feral Pigeon, Siskin (3), Skylark (4), Song Thrush (1), Starling (1), Stock Dove (1), Teal, Woodpigeon, Wren, Yellowhammer (5)

Sunday 29th December : One Snow Bunting on dunes at North end of Montrose Golf Course. Also one short-eared owl at Kinaber and two Ravens 7 one Peregrine on cliffs at St Cyrus NR

Kinnaber dunes. 11am
1 stonechat
1 dark-phase Arctic Skua close in chasing gulls.

Excellent views of Bittern this afternoon at 2.20pm as it flew from lone pine tree across open water in front of Gullery hide towards the east of loch.
also present were drake Smew, drake Pintail , Barn Owl and Whooper Swans.
A nice Brambling on my feeder at home was an added bonus.

02/01/2014 Elliot 3 Stonechats 2 male and 1 female. Don't remember having seen this species here before.
01/01/2014 Gayfield between 2nd and 3 rd bench 25 Purple Sandpipers. Non birding Elliot to left of railway crossing is very flooded so wellies will be useful if going there also Elliot water is in severe spate.

Kinnordy, Backwater, Forfar Loch and Arbroath

White-tailed Eagle etc

Date & Time: January 2nd 2014 - 08.30 am to 3.00 pm

Species and Details;

Kinnordy, Barn Owl and Smew, Bittern seen by others flying to the east end.

Lintrathen, very high, Whoopers, Tufties, Goldeneye and Wigeon.

Backwater Dam, White-tailed Eagle adult over hills at head of loch, 55 Fieldfares between two sites, Mistle Thrush 7, Kestrel, Buzzards 2 and Little Grebe.

Forfar Loch, usual birds, included Kingfisher near viewing platform, 3 Gadwall, c40 Goosander and a Magpie.

Arbroath, Inchcape Park at sewage works, tide fully in and stormy, 57 Purple Sandpipers today counted from stitched photos, by eye only 44 counted.
