Crane near Finavon

Post by gus guthrie »

This message was put out on ABZ news by the finder Paul Baxter

There was a Crane in flight alongside the A90 this evening, seemed to be landing in fields approx 1/2 mile north of Netherton Tractors on the west side of the A90. This is 3-4 miles north of Kirriemuir
A drive around the area may locate it

26th Sep. Balgavies – Kinnordy.

Post by Colin Black »

Late leavers or passage migrants maybe, a few Warblers and a Spotted Flycatcher at Balgavies and an Osprey at Kinnordy. In addition Long-tailed Tits and Goldcrest Balgavies. Kinnordy had Pintail, Water Rail, Snipe, Buzzard, Sparrow Hawk and two Marsh Harriers one with green tag right wing, yellow tag left wing, both sides with black diagonal stripe. This same bird was at Kinnordy in October last year it was a bird ringed as a chick in Angus in 2015 and is a female wearing ring GR50682.

Barry Buddon Camp and Shoreline

Post by Alex Shepherd »

Friday September 30th 2016

A 4-5 hour walk around Barry Buddon Camp and shoreline produced 1 Long-eared Owl, 2 Stonechats, 12 Long-tailed Tits, 11 Redpoll, Meadow Pipits and Swallows going through in steady numbers with a few House Martins.

The shoreline and sea had 1 2nd summer Pomarine Skua, 1 female Merlin which flew off the camp pursued by a Black-Headed Gull towards Tentsmuir, 160 Bar-tailed Godwits, 16 Grey Plover, 40 Knot, 27 Sanderling, 80 Common Terns, 18 Common Scoter, Oystercatchers, Curlew, Dunlin and Cormorants.

Carnoustie Golf Links, a brief look at the water features, 1 Snipe at the loch with 2 Little Grebe, another Little Grebe at the ponds with a lonely cygnet.
