Pink-footed Geese
It's very likely the SWT count earlier this week of 20,000 has been superseded today with a huge raft of birds towards the Wigeon Hide, a large number flying in from all sides and other flocks in surrounding fields. An adult and immature Peregrine were at the Bank of Scotland Hide at high tide, the immature spending it's time chasing crows for fun!
For the second day now a steady stream of Meadow Pipits flying south along the coast.

At least 300 redwings feeding on berries in garden this morning. Accompanied by numbers of blackbirds and goldcrests suggest a big movement at present.

Unidentified BoP
On Sunday saw a large, very dark, falcon-like bird in a field on the right hand side of the road between Barnhead and Bridge of Dun, Montrose. My friend was driving at the time so didn't see it but I saw it for a few seconds before it disappeared behind the hedge. I actually shouted 'Oh my God that was like a Peregrine on steroids!'. It probably was a Peregrine but the size of it was big and there was no white underneath. Just to make people aware of it. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Key points were a) pointed wings b) very dark grey almost black and c) short tail. Thanks in advance

An update to iPhone operating system has made the old app I used for AGV messages redundant. I sent the above message with a new app to all 143 AGV members. If you didn’t receive it then please let me know. If someone could also confirm message was received ‘ok’ that would be useful too.AGV:

Green Sandpiper, Monikie
One Green Sandpiper in front of the Denfind Pond Hide at Monikie today, likely spooked by workers but flew to east end of the pond. The pond has been partially drained exposing the mud.
Murton water levels have started to rise, probably due to sluice adjustment. No sign of Green Sandpipers but perhaps more winter ducks.
Balgavies, 6 Barnacle Geese still on shingle bank on north bank.
