Kinnordy loch 6pm

7 Black-tailed Godwits at west of loch, also a Common Sandpiper and a Ruff.
Mallard with 7 ducklings at east of loch.

At Murton today 1 LITTLE PLOVER PRESENT FROM CAR PARK HIDE PLUS 1 COMMON SANDPIPER - 1 SAND MARTIN - 4 GADWALL-CHIFFCHAFF-AND
A PAIR OF COMMON GULLS WITH ONE SITTING ON NEST ALL FROM CAR PARK HIDE

Garden Warbler singing within Dundee City boundary (just) at Balmuir House woods/Claverhouse NO407342. Also Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Jay and Whitethroat in the area. Surprising what you find on an Urban Gull Survey.

Kinnaber : single whimbrel on the beach, sanderling in summer plumage.

Seaton cliffs : bonxie patrolling cliffs

Glen Esk : several redstart pairs, tree pipit, woodcock x3, several black grouse, lapwing with chicks, common sandpiper everywhere.

Glen Lethnot : cuckoo, stock dove, wheatear, black grouse, red grouse, kestrel.

Brian Williamson - Glen Esk Thurs 9 May
mistle thrush, oyster catcher, curlew, lapwing, sand martin, kestrel, buzzard, tree creeper, cuckoo (2 heard), male redstart, woodcock (pair with 4 juveniles very close to road near Dalbrack junction), pied wagtail, grey wagtail, common sandpiper, dipper, ring ouzel (1, by Loch Lee) and all the usual species.

Arbroath to Elliot 6pm, 3 whimbrel heading north, 9 wheatear on the beach, mostly female.

Text from a reliable source at 5am this morning stating a mandarin drake was present at the mouth of the north esk.

Jim the warden from Balgavies confirms the crows are on the nest at Balgavies after the Osprey pair were fending off a rival pair and off the nest for a long time yesterday. Sad news.

First Swift over Barnhill at lunch time today, three this evening. Late again, same date as last year, must have been the northerly winds this time.

St Cyrus Nature reserve. Sunday 12 May. Hoopoe. In fields by small car park at reserve office. Feeding around horse droppings.

Sorry- not a bird report but a request. A friend left a green hat (of which he is very fond!) in the Gullery Hide yesterday evening. If anyone has picked it up to keep it safe please let me know so that it can be re-united with its owner. Thanks Allan

Murton NR, 16/5/2019

Garden Warbler singing and showing in and around trees north of the Gladstone Hide, likely a second bird singing out of sight on bank dividing the main ponds. Also Sedge Warblers, Blackcaps, Sand Martin's at the wall, and a single Swift.

ADBC Outing to Glen Esk, 13 members attended, 50 species seen which included Tree Pipit, Red Kite, Black Grouse, Wheatear, Raven, Ring Ouzel, Woodcock, Cuckoo and Spotted Flycatcher.

A Barnacle Goose at the Lurgies, near Miss Erskine's Bank, 1334 hrs, Friday May 24th. Also the long-staying Whooper Swan and a Pink-footed Goose.
