Common Crane
The Common Crane has been re-found this morning, by Rob Noble-Nesbitt, at Scotston of Usan Farm.
The bird does not seem to like having anyone closer than about 100+ yards.Trying to get closer, simply results in it taking off and having to be re-found.

Common Crane at Scotston of Usan Farm this a.m.
The Common Crane was at Boddin Farm in the bare field above the railway line until approx 08:30 today.
It flew to Scotston of Usan Farm and is in the bare field to the north west of the main farm buildings. It was there at 09:00
There is a turnip/suede store north of the farm and that is the best place to park, as the farmer is extremely busy and that leaves the farm road clear.
This bird consistently keeps about 150 yards away from any of the roads/tracks.

Pink-footed Geese
Sorry: Forgot to mention that the Common Crane is in the same field as approx. 170 Pink-footed Geese, but is not associating with them. When I last saw it, it was on the right hand side of the field as described above and was sometimes going into the long grass amongst the row of trees at the northernmost edge of the field

Report of Black-throated Diver at Kinnaber
A report this morning (finder unspecified) of a Black-throated Diver on River North Esk at Kinnaber, was investigated.
Without prejudice to the Black-throated Diver report, only an excellent Red-throated Diver, showing extremely well, was found.
The bird is mostly seen downstream of the run out of the lade opposite the Fisherman's Cottage and can be as far downstream as the gravel islands.
Seen at 16:00 today Sunday 8 April

Black Grouse survey
Dear all
I'm currently doing a Black Grouse lek survey (along with Anna Taylor) of the Angus glens. Would be grateful for any info on leks that you might have encountered recently (over the last few years) on your travels.
Any details would be gratefully received at clive.mckay@btinternet.com
Saw my first Angus Golden Eagle last week - a fair distance from the hills just north of Kirkton of Kingoldrum - a wandering 1 yr bird, very high, being mobbed by every Buzzard in the vicinity. Also recently fledged Crossbill at Backwater Res, and a trickle of Greylags passing north through the glens - quite an impressive sight when they meet the Caenlochan Corries and head straight over the top of them undeterred by the mist!
Cheers
Clive
