13 Common Greenshanks Montrose Basin Sunday Oct 7
13 Common Greenshanks flew from the west side of Montrose Basin today (during WeBS Count) into Maryton Bay.
Must be close to a record for the Basin?
Actually, I checked with Neil Mitchell on this and there was a total of 20 on the WeBS count!

Quail sighting
Householder on Rossie Island identified a quail feeding and sheltering under shrubs in her garden on Monday afternoon 15th October. The bird did not stay for long before moving on.
To the attentive eye, each moment of the year has its own beauty, and in the same field, it beholds, every hour, a picture which was never seen before, and which shall never be seen again. --Ralph Waldo Emerson

Kingfisher and various birds at Montrose Basin Fri 19/10
A Kingfisher is now starting to show fairly regularly in the pool in front of the Sand Martin wall at SWT Montrose and was seen there again this morning.
Also at least one Little Egret flew into Maryton Bay, (although I'm certain I saw at least three fly in there).

Dabchick (Little Grebe) at Old Montrose Pier
For the past 3 weeks, there have been as many as 25 Little Grebe just off the Old Montrose Pier.
Best time to see this is at low tide, as they gather in two large (family?) groups just downstream of the old pier.
