Wood Pigeon nests - REQUEST

As some of you know, I'm very interested in the mystery of Wood Pigeon migration - or whatever it is that 25,000 birds are doing when they fly over Barry Buddon in Novemeber. To this end, I am keen to ring as many WP chicks as possible in Angus. The recovery rate is high thanks to the WP's popularity with shooters. One of the best UK WP recoveries is of a bird ringed in Blairgowrie which went to the S of France. So if you come across any WP nests (even in your garden) I'd be very grateful if you could give me a call on 01575 560776.

We're just entering peak WP nesting time - so there should be lots of incubating birds about.

Cheers

Canada Geese at Montrose Basin (yesterday)

Post by HarryB »

Hi All,
19 Canadas yesterday out in the Basin. As the tide rose, they all came to Lady Erskine's Bank (that's the point on the opposite bank - about halfway between Old Montrose Pier and the entrance to The Slunks).
They joined with 2 Bar-headed Geese there.
Also 5 Greylags, which headed north west as the tide rose.
