Barn Owl, 1 at Colliston Mill, 0500hrs 21/11/2011. Unfortunately I didn't see it till I was on top of it and wiped it out.
Curiously it was sitting on the road with it's back to me and was virtually invisible in the orangey glow of the Colliston
street lights. It may have been dazed from a previous impact.

Have just received a report with excellent photographs from Forth Valley RSPB Group of a Great White Egret seen from the Wigeon hide on Monday 21st. Could still be around?

Loch of Kinnordy - Tuesday 22nd Nov (pm)

On the paths were seen Bullfinch, Siskin, a Goldcrest, a Lesser Redpoll, Robin, Coal-Blue-Great Tits, Chaffinches, and a Treecreeper. At one point the treecreeper flew to land on a trunk immediatly in front of us.

On the water were Greylag geese, 2 White fronted Geese, Tufted Ducks, Goldeneye, Whooper and Mute Swans, Teal, Wigeon, Lapwings, Shoveller, Gadwall.

Also had a nice fly by from a Buzzard.

Saw this high up an angus glen. What do you think Dodgy Buzzard or Rough Legged? looked light in flight and quite harrier like. Very poor photo due to big crop and poor light.

Interesting 'light Buzzard' photo. How light did it look in flight & could it be mistaken for a female/imm Snowy Owl, do you think?

Was it taken anywhere near Glen Isla?

Just a thought is this a Rough Legged Buzzard, see pic below.

I think they vary quite a bit in plumage.

Looks like the concensus is dodgy Buzzard. Chris sorry about lack of location info, if it had been something better I would of had a word with the keeper, he has asked that I do not bring to much attention to the site.

At Loch of Kinnordy RSPB reserve today among the usual commoner birds my partner and I saw the female and male Smew from the East hide. They tended to stay near the eastern corner of the water and would disappear and reappear continually. Also dozens of female Goldeneye and a single male which started displaying to them.
