September 24th, Arbroath West Links Area, Low Tide around 1500.

1 Bar-tailed Godwit, 4 Ringed Plover, 2 Rock Pipits, 3 White Wagtails, Redshank, Oystercatchers, Starlings and an unidentified bird which I will post on the photo section. It's not a great photo as it was poor light and raining, maybe a Sandpiper but not confident?

25/09/2012 Arbroath, stood at a very windswept harbour. In the harbour Turnstone, Redshank, Sanderling, Ringed Plover, Cormorants. Outside flying through, 3 Manx Shearwaters, Lots of juv Gannets, Kittiwakes mostly juv, Guillemots, numerous other gulls, Cormorants having fun trying to fly against the high winds, there was other stuff further out in the mist but was not chancing the scope in that wind.

Seen on today's news that yet another golden eagle has been found dead in Aberdeenshire, the bird had a satellite tracking tag on it's back and seems to have met it's demise in one of the Angus glens, then dumped in another location.Absolute shocking

Found a dead buzzard at Farnell village on Sunday evening carrying a leg ring and radio transmitter. This bird was subsequently identified as Buzz - a first year buzzard being tracked by Roy Dennis. Buzz was the only Common Buzzard being monitored like this and had made his way down from Speyside. The bird has gone off today for post mortem examination. You can read a bit about the bird on Roy Dennis' website.
To the attentive eye, each moment of the year has its own beauty, and in the same field, it beholds, every hour, a picture which was never seen before, and which shall never be seen again. --Ralph Waldo Emerson

September 28th GUILLIEMOT WRECK -B-FERRY

Post by Bob McCurley »

September 28th 1530pm GULLIEMOT WRECK - 70 AT BROUGHTY FERRY LIFEBOAT STATION TO DOUGLAS TERRACE -- Following a phone call in late afternoon from Bruce Anderson advising me he had come across a GULLIEMIT WRECK at B/Ferry I went down and discovered 70 dead Guillimots washed up on the shore line at High Tide , not a pretty sight ! Montrose Basin has given refuge from the recent Storms to an unprecented 493 Guillimots but unfortunately the B/Ferry Birds have perished , Fife has had a similiar Wreck in the past few days of Guillimots .
On a brighter note - SPOTTED FLYCATHER 1 at Craig Mill Den this afternoon .
