dead puffin

Post by simonbusuttil »

had a re-look at the (many) corpses along Lunan this am. One ringed puffin - EW73459. Have reported it via BTO. May well be worth a re-look at any corpses you see

Riverside Nature Park, Dundee 27/4/13

Really good afternoon at the park. 43 species and a couple of "heard only".

1st Common Whitethroat and Blackcap for the year at the park, and glad to see Lesser Whitethroat back again, and visible/audible at least for now. Will get a lot harder to see rather soon. A few locals managed to add it to their yearlist today with really good views. Wheatear was the first one I've seen through the park in Spring (1 in Autumn 2011).

Blackbird, Blackcap (1m), Black Headed Gull, Blue Tit, Buzzard (2), Carrion Crow, Chaffinch, Common Gull, Cormorant, Curlew, Dunnock, Goldfinch, Great Black Backed Gull (1), Grey Heron(1), Herring Gull, Jackdaw, Lesser Black Backed Gull, Lesser Redpoll (3+), Lesser Whitethroat (possibly 2), Linnet (1), Long tailed Tit, Mallard, Mealy Redpoll (1), Mute Swan (2), Oystercatcher, Pied Wagtail, Pink Footed Goose (c80 north not calling), Red Breasted Merganser (1f), Redshank, Reed Bunting, Robin, Feral Pigeon, Shelduck, Skylark, Starling (2), Swallow, Teal (4), Wheatear (1m), Whitethroat (1), Willow Warbler, Woodpigeon, Wren, Yellowhammer (2)
Common Sandpiper and Great Tit both heard but not seen.

Red Throated Diver still in City Quay. Saw it catch a rather large fish, near the river entrance. Photo here....
