Yellow browed warbler
Yellow browed warbler in the "Westies" park in Montrose - net to Tescoes. Fourth year out of five this species has been recorded here. It was still present this morning and just after lunch

Montrose. 2 Yellow-browed warblers in the park behind Tesco at 1.30pm today.
Fishtown of Usan. 1 Yellow-browed warbler with around 15 Goldcrest in the sycamores where the chicken run is at 2pm, Also had 3 Skuas past, 2 were Arctic Skuas ( pale morph) and the 3rd at 2.45pm was an adult Long-tailed Skua heading south.
Also had c30 Barnacle Geese feeding with a big flock of Pinkfeet Geese between Mains of Usan and Scurdie Ness.
Lurgies 4pm. 5 Redwing feeding on berries & a single Ruff.

Scaup and Barnacle Geese - Montrose Basin
One drake Scaup in front of SWT Centre at 1600 hrs today, 9/10/2015 and between 7 and 12 Barnacle Geese within a flock of 1500 Pink-footed Geese seen from Montrose Railway Station foot bridge. Also a group of around 100 Golden Plover at Tayock, yesterday it was around 300.

Details: A nice Kingfisher viewed from the bridge at Lochmill over the Dean Water near Drumgley, Forfar at 1pm. Seen Kingfisher here before.
A big mixed flock of linnets, goldfinches, tree sparrows and yellowhammers in the adjacent field also.

Species: Short-eared Owl, Barnacle Geese, Grey Partridge, Yellow-browed Warbler, Redwing
Montrose, Kirkie Steps 1030 hrs. Chiffchaff, Goldcrest, Siskin and Peregrine flying over.
Montrose, St Peters Church 1115 hrs. One Yellow-browed Warbler in the grounds at the back of the church.
Usan Smiddy. Eventually through the day around 2500 Pink-footed Geese with 3 Barnacle Geese, no sign of Snow Goose. 20 Grey Partridges in ploughed field by walled garden.
Mains of Usan. Short-eared Owl being mobbed by crows in carrot/cereal field behind the farm buildings, seen on Tuesday near geese. Also Kestrel, c40 Linnets and 300+ Starlings.
Lurgies. Kingfisher and 14 Little Grebes downstream of Old Harbour, 3 Redwing on path, and Red-breasted Merganser with a broken bill upstream of Slunks. Seal fishing near Old Harbour again.

The Red-necked Grebe at Lunan Bay came in with the tide today in front of the platform around 1530 and disappeared again around or before high tide.
Just in from Birdguides: "16/10 17:37 ANGUS & DUNDEE : Yellow-browed Warbler, Mains of Usan [A] one; also female Firecrest" assume the area near the walled garden.

An amazing 85,632 pink footed geese were counted this morning at dawn for the IGC (Icelandic Goose Census).

Bittern in bay near lone Pine tree for approx 10 mins before flying into reedbed.

Yesterday morning I had a Magpie at my fat ball feeder. An unusual garden visitor for me!

Saw 3 grey wagtails in Bell Street, Dundee about 1100 today on roof of hydro then flew over to multi storey car park. Thought I saw one earlier in week on roofs but decided it couldn't be as it shouldn't b there but better view today confirmed it. Research of Internet suggests they can be common in city centres using roof pools. Also saw 2 magpies fly over the multi storey towards Hilltown. They seem to b everywhere now as I regularly see at Tullybacchart and one is often near Tesco in Blairgowrie

approx. 400 Canada geese at lintrathen
backwater
7 redwings groundfeeding on the slopes of the reservoir,1 stonechat/20 bullfinches/goldfinches/pied wagtails/robin/song thrush/4 Canada geese/wren/buzzard
