Murton, Wood Sandpiper.
Thursday 3rd August 2017.

One juvenile Wood Sandpiper found by Chris McGuigan on Wednesday 2nd was still at Murton this morning although at the far end of the car park pond it could be viewed with binoculars and scopes, it had been much closer. Unfortunately someone walked out on to the scrape to feed the swans this pm and spooked every bird there. Also 3 Dunlin and 2 Common Sandpipers.

Wed 9th Aug,Club Outing. 13 members ventured on today's outing with 1 SOC member. Nothing special but still had a total of 39 species. Some members were disappointed that we could not fine Little Gulls, but with the weather being kind to us every one had an enjoyable day. We were on our feet for nearly 4 hours so think older members like me will be having a very good sleep tonight.

Kinnaber Links, Wednesday 9th August 2017, 1000-1430

4 Arctic Skuas chasing Terns and Kittiwakes along the beach in the area of the old salmon bothies. Juvenile Cuckoo behind the dunes being fed by 2 Meadow Pipits between the bothies and river. No sign of Humpback Whale here or at Scurdie Ness where 5 more Skuas flew north, all looked to be Arctics, some photos to check tonight. Large numbers of Terns and Kittiwakes flying north to roost at St Cyrus at high tide.

One of the skuas at Scurdie Ness was a Pomarine, I wonder if it was the one later seen at Girdle Ness.

Photos of an Arctic and the Cuckoo on my blog, https://aberbrothock.blogspot.co.uk/

Mixed flock spent a bit of time in our Monifieth garden this afternoon. Great tits, bluetits, coaltits, longtailed tits, goldcrest,
male blackcap and a small warbler (could not indentify). All four species of tits had a bath, goldcrest tried to get to the pond a few times,
unfortunately we have a net on it because of the herons.
